Flo retired from Newton Public Schools in 1996. Upon completion of her Master's Degree in Education in 1978, Flo became an Education Counselor at Newton North High School and a METCO Counselor at Newton South High School, Day and Brown Middle Schools. She was secretary in the Counseling Department at Newton High School from 1957-1960, Administrative Assistant to the Department Chair of the Counseling Department at Newton North High School from 1974-1978. Flo worked for Newton Public Schools for 25 years. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother to their three children. Flo was married to the late Samuel Turner. She was the daughter of the late Edmund and Annie Clark of Belle Vernon, PA. Flo was a long time resident of Newton,MA before moving to Northern VA in 2006. Clark of Chantilly, VA, formerly of West Newton and Brockton, MA, passed away on September 14, 2017. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 21st at Heritage Fellowship Church,2501 Fox Mill Road, Reston, VA at a time to be determined. Visiting hours will begin at 9:30 AM and services at 11:00 AM. Home going services are being held on October 7th at the Myrtle Baptist Church, 21 Curve Street, Newton, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Gilbert Burgess, Joe Burgess, and Robert Clark. Clark (Ruby) Turner of Easton, MA, Lisa (Kenneth) Gordon, of Reston, VA, and Craig (Laura) Turner of San Leandro, CA three granddaughters: Bianca Turner, Veronica Turner, and Maricela Turner three grandsons: Edmund Clark Turner, Marshall Gordon, and Samuel Connor Gordon one brother: Edmund (Raynette) Clark of Wheaton, MD one sister: Marjean Gomes of Worcester, MA five sisters- in-laws: Ozella Evans of Greensboro, NC, Raynette (Edmund) Clark of Wheaton, MD June Lowe of Auburndale, MA and Joan (Jesse) Banks of Newton Centre, MA two brothers- in-law: William (Nancy) Turner of West Newton, MA and Thomas (Etheline) Turner of Newtonville, MA a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews cousins god-son Vernon (Sharon) Fisher god-daughter Bethany Schneider and a host of extended family and friends. Flo is survived by her three children: R. She composed and published three original oratorios for the choir. She served as choir director and Minister of Music at several churches throughout the Boston Area, and pianist and composer for the New World Gospel Choir that toured New England and New York from 1968 to 1976. Flo was gifted with a natural ability and deep passion for music. Following her retirement, Flo became a Piano Teacher, offering private lessons, and a Music Therapist, providing music workshops at nursing homes and senior community centers. ![]() ![]() ![]()
